This 10,000 square-foot house in the Hamptons is perched above the dunes overlooking the Atlantic. Our charge was to create a suitable plan for its owners, a retired couple, and their visiting children and grandchildren as well. They preferred the relaxed character of a Shingle Style house — one that provided as many water views and as much living space as possible. Our solution was to place living spaces and the master bedroom suite on the second floor, while the bedrooms, game room, movie room, and other secondary rooms are located on the first floor. Clean and bold trim systems combine with contemporary interiors to make this a vital environment for multiple generations.
