The owners wanted the interior to look minimal and full of light. They needed a clean and peaceful place to come home to and relax after a busy day. The existing space however was quite challeging with lots of unusual angles and construction elements. We decided to try to incorporate the existing structure as much as possible in the new design. The only wall we decided to tear down and reconstruct was the wall between the two bathrooms. That change was necessary in order to incorporate two integrated shower boxes. The apartment was to be a family home and the aim was to create a contemporary domestic environment functional in every aspect. We chose neutral grey floor tiles, ash wood, matte white surfaces and grey glass as the main materials. The design is based on the composition of simple geometric volumes. The custom-made furniture is integrated in the architecture of the apartment. The lighting concept was to emphasize on the clean lines of the interior in a discreet way without using statement pieces of lighting. The final result is achieved by the interplay of space, materials, custom-made furniture with attention to each detail and architectural lighting. It gives the apartment a warm, white welcoming glow.
