Situated in Budapest’s 15th district, this project transforms and significantly extends an existing residential building within a protected suburban streetscape.
The street-facing volume preserves the scale, proportions, and character of the historical context, responding to local regulations and the established small-town urban fabric. Rather than competing with its surroundings, the intervention reinforces continuity along the street while subtly refining architectural details.
Behind this restrained frontage, the house opens into a contemporary spatial system. The extension redefines the relationship between interior and garden, introducing larger openings, covered outdoor spaces, and a more fluid connection to the landscape. The massing shifts from compact and traditional toward a more articulated composition, allowing light, views, and everyday living to expand beyond the limits of the original structure.
The project is defined by this duality:
a respectful, context-driven presence toward the street, and a more open, contemporary architectural expression toward the private garden.
