Odintsovo is a satellite city in the west of Moscow with around 140.000 inhabitants. The city masterplan finally formed in 60-70 years of the twentieth century. New districts adhered to the central railway station, the railway itself divided the city into northern and southern parts. The southern part was originally developed as an industrial zone, in the northern zone residential disticts were built around the central core of green parks. Parallel to the railroad passed through the city transit road of regional significance - Mozhayskoe shosse.
These inputs are identified urban problems that appeared in Odintsovo with growth and development. The rapid increase of residential areas led to a growth of population and cars in the city. Meanwhile, the transport connections didn't develop parallel to the residential areas and its fragmentation due to dissection of the railroad and transit traffic artery is preserved. Part of the green core of the city was divided into lots and built up without any strategic development plan.
All this has led to a deterioration of the quality of the urban environment. The significant green spaces were lost. Undeveloped capillary transport links and a focus on personal vehicles resulted in numerous traffic jams and environmental degradation. Thus, spontaneous and unplanned development of territories has led to numerous acute problems that require a rethinking of the city development and the creation of a holistic development plan with connection of modern realities of life.
