A birdhouse is a monument of imagination; each of them relies as much on our fantasized image of the delicate creatures as on our idea of an archetypical house. They are isolated micro-universes, but ones that are necessarily open to their environment - contradictions by design.
The different «programs» of the birdhouse (nesting, caring, feeding, seduction) are disposed vertically in a miniature superstructure, which becomes the collective stage of a daily spatial practice. The last of these programs, the nest, sits at the top and gets the best vistas.
Through the reinterpretation of a variety of architectural tropes, the birdhouse becomes an experiment that arouses the imagination of the architect, the ornithologist, and possibly even the bird.
