A House at the Towpath is located in Maumee, Ohio at the edge of a neighborhood of historic homes. The property was created from a larger family estate, which included approximately 600 feet of wooded riverfront, with an existing house and garage. A master plan was provided as part of the project, and a new building site was created on the southern hillside leading down to the river. An efficiently stacked three-story plan, an interpretation of a foursquare house, provides minimal impact on the site, and offers the advantage of height for enhanced views. Many examples of the archetype are prevalent nearby, including the original family house. Each interior space in the home has a unique view, framed to provide a window on wildlife and nature during all hours of the day, and seasons of the year.
