This A-HOUSE was built in Kai city,Yamanashi prefecture. It is located in the grounds was born by the development of roads in the center near the region and relaxed place where fields spreads. In Kai, Yamanashi, where a relation to 'crystal' and its history can be tracked long back to the Jomon period. Surrounded by high and famous mountains such as Southern Alps starting Mount Kita, Yatsugatake, a Chichibu Mountain range and Mount Fuji, stunningly beautiful and gorgeous mountain area can be sweepingly glanced. The clear and transparent air that sharp mountains carry let fresh feeling permeate deep down our mind.
Site has a gentle slope, it is surrounded by the two roads.Between two roads crossing in a narrow-angle, the plan had a tendency to converge into complicated and plural one caused by a continuous level difference of the junction, size difference of the road width, undulation of waterways and the site and wide-ranging inconsistent factors of dwellers' everyday lives. One of the important subjects in the project was to raise a degree of abstraction by overcoming the complexity of the current and shifting to a vector not only a house but architecture that we seek.
Folding one sheet of slab, which is the smallest unit, and largely cutting the slab to follow different levels, the slab is connected to various levels. The interior space deforms itself as weaving one section's consistency with another and the architecture itself is induced to a variant shape. The deformed architecture and space mysteriously do not have a sense of incongruity and make us feel inevitable and was required. The architecture that is deformed but is extremely abstract invites all the relating elements to a platform of abstraction. A chemical reaction begins as the flow of history and nature's pulsation and even human's mind conform to one dimension of world of abstraction and merger into one. A catalytic architecture that evokes reactions enables mind to gain infinite extent and connection to a meaning of existing in a place and to a large force in nature. The endlessly large extension and connection let us gain fundamental freedom and emancipation of mind. And as time goes by, I believe the residence itself sublimes into transparent 'crystal' and becomes architecture that the land desired.
