Located in the heart of Surat, this recently renovated apartment was envisioned as a tranquil, minimalist haven that reflects the evolving lifestyle of a three-generation family. The design brief was both clear and complex: to create a clean, clutter-free, and dynamic home that embraces both tradition and the pace of contemporary life.
The renovation aimed to maximize functionality while breathing new life into the existing structure. As a design firm deeply rooted in purposeful design, we approached the project with a commitment to restoration, reuse, and spatial clarity. Many original elements were retained and reinterpreted—honouring the essence of the home while aligning it with modern sensibilities.
One of the key transformations involved repurposing existing wooden strips, previously used as partitions. These were thoughtfully reimagined as wall panelling, adding a layer of visual texture and a sense of continuity throughout the interiors. The overall material palette was deliberately minimal, with choices that prioritized ease of maintenance and timeless appeal.
The entertainment zone was finished in a raw cement plaster, lending a tactile, earthy backdrop for everyday life. In the living area, upcycled wooden panels add warmth and rhythm, while a life-sized artwork, rendered in textured paint, provides a dramatic focal point—merging structure and storytelling.
Our design philosophy places strong emphasis on proportion, alignment, and the quiet orchestration of materials and forms. From the layout to the styling, every element was selected to enhance flow and function. Lightness permeates the space—not only through natural illumination but also through the selected furniture and colour palette. The result is a home that feels airy, open, and attuned to the rhythms of its residents.
More than just an aesthetic update, the project brought forward a thoughtful exploration of how space supports behaviour. In reshaping this home, the design opened up possibilities for new routines, better organization, and more intentional living. The outcome is a modern sanctuary—minimal, textured, and deeply personal—crafted to evolve with the family it shelters.
