A contemporary cantilevered balcony, using sustainable and durable materials. The galvanised steel frame with stainless steel bolts, toughened glass balustrade and a western red cedar deck, contrasts with a sandstone built Victorian detached villa. New Eco Plus doors onto the balcony and to the back garden were made locally by the Green Building Store to the highest energy saving standards with FSC timber, boron timber preservatives and natural plant-oil based paint. The original Victorian Sash Windows were refurbished and painted with the same natural paint.The balcony is designed to take advantage of a sloping site where the garden level is a storey below the main living accommodation and is intended to provide an outdoor family space.
