The project is to improve the pedestrian space (public realm) on 8th Street SW, between the Bow River and 17th Avenue. Specifically, the Plan will design better sidewalks, pedestrian crossings and gathering areas for Calgarians between the popular Bow River Pathway, Beltline communities and the retail district along 17th Avenue SW. The vision is to create a contemporary, pedestrian focused urban destination area with a distinct identity that connects people, parks and neighbourhoods supported by vibrant retail experiences and a variety of transportation modes.
