After a competition that began with submissions from 12 architecture firms, Morphosis Architects was selected to design the new development at this legendary Los Angeles site.
This project is a mixed-use development located at West Hollywood's Sunset strip, home of the renowned Viper room nightclub. Morphosis Architects designed a 200-foot tall hotel that will feature 115 hotel rooms, as well as a residential component including 31 condo units, 10 affordable housing units, a gym, a spa, restaurants, a rooftop pool, 269 parking spaces on three basement levels and a new home for the Viper Room. Additionally, an 820-square-foot digital billboard sits on the Sunset Boulevard–facing facade.
Morphosis’ design comprises a white, ribbon-windowed, 15-story hotel that appears to clamp onto the scheme’s more rationally proportioned residential tower. A 120-foot void is created between the two structures, while a bridge overhead would contain a restaurant and amenities for both residents and hotel guests.
The project was led by Kilograph Senior Art Director Fredy Castellanos, with contributions from Senior Artist Brett Jones and 3D Artist John Paul Arrieta Salagan, and under direction from CEO & Founder Keely Colcleugh.
