The main pillar driving the design was the client’s need to develop their residence on a single storey level. With regards to the available land for the development, this concerned a regular-sized plot with a slight deviation of elevation across the two sides of the plot. This deviation was effectively addressed by clever division and distribution of the outdoor spaces along with efficient handling of the local terrain/landscape.
The entrance of the residence is located on the western side of the plot. The centerpiece of the house is the kitchen, which in the context of an open and unified space is located alongside the dining area and the living room. The openings to the courtyard function as connecting links between the interior and the exterior areas, but also contribute to the bioclimatic character of the house, creating a beneficiary microclimate for the residents. A central corridor connects both the communal and private areas.
The design of the roof plays an integral role in conceptualising the shape of the residence. It’s a coated metal structure with considerable complexity, which contributes substantially to the realization of the overall composition, giving to the project its unique identity.
