The upstate village of Gardiner, New York hosts this site with the Hudson Valley sprawled to the East and backed by the precipitous cliffs of the Shawangunk Mountains. A metaphorical Mega-Transect will run through the site establishing the origins of the vocabulary for the project, which is derived from two major formations inscribed on the site and in the landscape itself. One is an interpretation of the geological morphology of the rock found at the site and the cliffs. The second major system used on the site springs from the transient nature of the mature growth of Red Oak trees and their seasonal canopies.
