Onyx Equities, a real estate investment and property services firm, engaged NORR to create value in an existing five-story office building in Paramus, NJ. The corporate interiors project required a transformation of dated common areas and amenity spaces into a modern and rejuvenated workplace environment. The design requirements entailed a 5-story open atrium, elevator lobby, conference center and a cafeteria expansion with a full-service kitchen and larger dining and lounge area.
Following a collaborative design process, NORR set out to create a positive tenant experience. The design work featured a complete strip down of the dated multi-story atrium that was dated with chrome facias and dark marble floor tiles. Custom vertical lights were installed at each level that wrapped around three sides of the atrium. New large format porcelain floor tiles were installed throughout and the once shiny window mullions were reclad in matte black. The furniture and carpet add pops of color in an unexpected way, inviting people to sit down and enjoy the bright and sunny space. In the amenity spaces, hexagon floor tiles create an engaging pattern for users as they navigate the breakout rooms, conference center and cafeteria. Millwork baffles and lighting swoops from the banquettes across the ceiling, and transition down the wall into white lattice work on the opposite wall.
With a clear understanding of the design goal, and NORR’s guiding design principles, the high-end corporate interiors project has enabled Onyx Equities to attract Class A tenants and position 61 Paramus as a premier office property in New Jersey.
