5th Street Slope

YEAR
2006
In 2006, ORE worked pro-bono with members from a low-income neighborhood
in the East-Village of Manhattan to design and construct a sustainably
built community park. Hearty Kiwis and Wisteria growing over stainless
steel arbors and wood provide shade for paths and paved surfaces, while
harvested rainwater circulates to simultaneously cool people and nourish
plants. Volunteers showed up at 5th Street Slope to help dig
fence-posts, pour foundations, and plant, quickly transforming a vacant
dirt lot into an urban oasis.
