Located in the middle of Nagano prefecture, "533House" settled in a cold region.The average temperature is around 27℃ in summer and 7℃ in winter; sometimes drops to -10℃ in minimum.The most characteristic point of "533House" is its inclined fixed windows along the southern facade.In winter, they allow sunlight to shine on the larger part of the floor. Made by concrete, the floor stores sun heat during the day and keep rooms warm even during the night.On the other hand, we cover them with big draughty awning in summer. It keeps inside under shadow, cool. Several upper windows on the north will offer natural light and sky view instead.By gaining natural energy effectively, despite its cold climatic environment, "533House" tries to be much independent from fossil fuels.
