MADGI served as the architect of record for these eight high-design duplex units commissioned by HEEA Development LLC. Project leader Richard DeMarco worked closely with design firm Shigeru Ban Architects and with Dean Maltz Architects on the 11-story, 33,000-square-foot mixed-use project, which includes an art gallery on the first floor.
The building has nine floors of metal shutters, which create a uniform street façade. When the shutters are retracted, enormous 20-foot-high by 15-foot-wide bi-fold windows are revealed. They can be opened to create a continuous floor plan between interior spaces and outdoor decks.
