The spirit of 50th Parallel Estate speaks to a designed wholeness of orchestrated experience: a spectacularly wonderful landscape mounted with modernist, classically elegant architecture, serenely perched on the land. This personal place of private hospitality is a happily enriching experience, savoring the love of the land, the light, the water, and the right combination of geological presences that match a special, meteorological alignment to other sites - PINOT wine-making conclaves of the world.
The site itself is 62 acres of scenic vineyard, and the land slopes gently toward the lake, providing some of the best views of Lake Okanagan you will find.
The objective here was to marry three ideas using one simple yet iconic concept and structure that adheres to the already present language of the land.
First and foremost is a world-class production facility as the business end of the building design. This incrementally releases itself into the tasting, banquet, and function room with 20’ ceilings and all glass façades to take full advantage of the lake and vineyard views. Finally an open space for functions spills out and leads to the retail component, a glass cube sheltered by the continuing cantilevered roof line.
This project won Bronze at the 12th Annual International Design Awards held in Los Angeles, California.
