A secure and calming Class A office tower reflective of an upscale boutique hotel.
Our design team refreshed this 31-story Class A office tower located in the heart of Downtown Minneapolis’ Central Business District known as 50 South Sixth. The office building’s lobby had not been updated since its inception. The goal of the new design was to create a welcoming space where employees and guests could interact while also improving the security of the public spaces for tenants.
Our visually dramatic renovation consisted of repainting the existing wood paneling within the scope of renovation in a sleek slate gray tone, re-cladding of the columns in multi-layer glass/metal sheeting, and adding light gray reflective wallcoverings for contrast.
Reinforcing socialization and security, the team removed the existing guard desk and re-envisioned that position with a relaxing seating area and large scale water-mist fireplace. In this seating area, large scale stone slabs cover the wall to add variation and bring visual interest.
Strategically placed high visual elements are found throughout the lobby to draw the eye up and connect the space with the skyway level to unify the entire area.
