The architecture for 420 West Rivo Alto Drive features a mid-century modern style residence with tropical modern features and highlighted indoor-outdoor living.
The most important request from the owner of the project was that it take advantage of the great waterfront views, emphasizing the indoor-outdoor lifestyle so prevalent in South Florida. Tall sliding glass doors with vast expanse openings were used throughout the entire rear of the residence facing the water. Rooms were strategically placed so that the habitants could take full advantage of the views from the rooms most important to them.
The exterior features imported stone at the front facade combined with wood accents, stucco and black aluminum frames with clear impact glass. The rear balcony elements are rounded at the ends to soften the geometry of the residence. The inviting stone façade with tall narrow glass openings is used to lead one into the front entry from the pie shaped lot that is narrow at the front and widens at the rear.
Some interior areas feature natural concrete combined with wood. As well, floating stairs cantilever off a natural concrete wall, all combining to enhance the mid-century modern feel of the residence’s interior. An outdoor covered ribbon fireplace at the rear of the residence allows the owners to enjoy the outdoors on cool evenings while focusing on the water views.
