This couple came to DSA to build a modern farmhouse style home that would put outdoor living at the forefront. In addition to that request, there was a challenge in terms of the shape of the lot, as it was pie shaped, and its orientation received a lot of light exposure. A sun study was conducted to understand how the light moved throughout the day, and the team designed the placement of the house to work with the light, rather than against it. The bedrooms were placed on the backside of the home to maximize the shade, while the living areas were placed in the sunnier areas. To really maximize the outdoor focus, the team designed the home to be u-shaped, with everything oriented around the pool and covered lanai. Other features of the home include four bedrooms, a playroom that is flexible in use so that it can grow with the family, a master suite, an elevator, and maximized water views throughout the home.
