Ever since the modern society came into being, there has been requirement of various types of constructions. Construction of major buildings is no simple job and requires heavy machinery to speed up the process. The same is the case with all other construction and development works such as building of dams, bridges, and more.

Cranes have become an integral part of these operations for its usability to lift some of the heaviest materials. Separately casted and prepared parts to be used in building are transported using overhead cranes and set down at the required point. Depending upon the factory type and operation a variety of overhead cranes are used.

Bridge Cranes:
This type of cranes are mostly found in the warehouses and the factories. The bridge crane comprises of metal beams that run along the ceiling. There is also a trolley that will move along with the crane and it is supported by two strong beams on either sides. This forms the entire bridge. The crane is able to lift the load from one point and transport it to another point along the rail.

Gantry Cranes:
Gantry cranes are among the strongest of all cranes used in the construction industry. It is a modified version of the bridge crane and runs on the track that has been fixed on the road. It has extensive usage in the construction industry. It is used for various operations, such as, shifting casted concrete blocks to the drop location.

Tower Crane:
This type of crane is widely used across the world in the construction of multi storied building and skyscrapers. As the name suggests, this overhead crane can reach great heights, which is up to 265 feet. It has a single pole support attached to a concrete base firmly that provides the support. The crane as a horizontal hand like beam attached to the vertical pole that helps in carrying the load to the top and then along the XY axis. This beam can reach out up to 230 feet. The crane is capable of lifting up to 20 tons and is an integral part in construction of skyscrapers. The design was first made in Europe and later on the crane is being utilized across the world.
