Castel Bolognese, small town on the Via Emilia in the province of Ravenna. Flat territory stained by excellent vineyards and cut by roads that follow the ditches, in the background the Apennines. A belonging to the territory evident also in the tenacity in keeping alive small reality: Biancanigo; a small village where a church and a historic winery are bordering the small cemetery full of memory and local history.
The interventions of the contract were multiple and dispersed in the two cemeteries: the cemetery of the main town and the cemetery of Biancanigo. From the removal of the roof on the expansion of the late '60s to the recovery of the coverage of the north side of Biancanigo, from the refurbishment of the walkway to that of the wall, till the construction of two extensions. In the center 184 new burial cell, in Biancanigo 20 new burial cells and 10 new ossuaries.
Cemetery of the center. Here the tender led to the creation of a new footbridge linking the expansion of the project on two floors with gallery and the existing structure. The project is characterized by a "clean look" of the building; the use of exposed concrete extending the existing buildings is actually relieved by the use of clear pavements and the use of white mesh plate as parapet and shading resolved by lines in façade and geometries.
Cemetery Biancanigo. In addition to the refurbishment of existing buildings and of the walkway the project is here offering a building that, by maintaining a dialogue with the existing section, try to dictate a new line of expansion by abolishing the annoying existing columns and recovering the stretch for under slope new ossuaries.
