1Mission

845, Fort Stockton Drive, San Diego, CA, United States

YEAR
2009
Bringing new commercial and
residential properties to the historic Mission Hills neighborhood, 1Mission embraces
the community by integrating itself within it.Several key components
forge links to the community: A public pedestrian paseo (walkway) winds its way
through the site. Street-level townhouses feature entry porches. Commercial
storefronts on the public sidewalk reinforce the historic traditional plan of
the neighborhood.Containing 5,300 SF of retail space, 61 market-rate condominiums, and two
levels of subterranean parking, 1Mission is the second and final phase in the
redevelopment of the majority of one city block by developer CLB Partners and
architect MW Steele Group.Phase 1 saw the historic
renovation and infill of the properties along Washington Street between Goldfinch
and Falcon Streets. This part of the project has been recognized with the “Save
Our Heritage Award” by the Save Our Heritage Organization, the “Rose Award” by
the Mission Hills Town Council, a “Smart Growth Award” by the Urban Land
Institute, and a “Historic Preservation Award” by the City of San Diego.Phase 2 of the
redevelopment—the 1Mission project—opened in late 2009. It has thus far been recognized
with a “2010 Gold Nugget Grand Award Winner Best in the West - Mixed Use
Project” by the Pacific Coast Builders Conference and an “Award of Distinction”
from San Diego Architectural Foundation and the County of San Diego.
