Launched in 2012 with a light renovation study, the programme has gradually moved towards a major overhaul in response to the many pathologies and to ensure a long-term solution. The worksite has also seen many twists and turns: Covid, a shortage of materials, but also programmatic changes, from moving the entrance hall to the corner of avenue Charles de Gaulle and rue des Graviers to considering the changing expectations of the post-Covid tertiary sector in terms of uses and strengthening communal spaces.
It also reflects a new way of thinking about architecture within the agency, through the search for a certain frugality inspired by the LBBA-LabClimat. The desire for simplicity was asserted throughout the building, right down to the communal areas, in keeping with the office floors, which have a raw concrete structure and exposed networks. This gives the interior spaces a new identity, a break with the imaginary world expected of tertiary programmes.
For the façades, the bright white ©Corian matrix gives this corner building a distinctive look on the avenue. The facade grid, echoing the existing structure, creates an aesthetic unity on the historic avenue and on rue des Graviers, a narrow street facing low-rise flat blocks. The stepped terraces on the street allow the building to interact with its context without clashing with neighbouring buildings.
The 157, which was entirely mineral before it was restructured, now features planted terraces and gardens. The result is 2,600 m² of green space where users can have lunch, make a phone call, work, or meet their teams... A project that reflects LBBA's fundamental values on the art of living at work!
157 CDG means knowing how to evolve without losing your way, and it's a fine example of resilience that all those involved in this project are working so well together!
