Continuing their deep commitment to providing quality affordable housing to the Mt. Eden neighborhood in the Bronx, Settlement Housing Fund and The Briarwood Organization have partnered to develop the new construction of 60 units of one, two, and three-bedroom apartments on Walton Avenue. The triangular shaped lot is the result of historic overlays of zoning which creates unusual property lines and in turn, a building form which references the street line as well as the site configuration.
The Walton Avenue façade is broken into four separate planes differentiated through brick colors that form a gradient along the façade. The revealed edges of the planes allow for corner windows into each apartment living room. The 11-story building is developed as Quality Housing and benefits from natural lighting in corridors and a generous rooftop terrace.
The project is developed under the Enterprise Green Communities Guidelines and is participating in the NYSERDA Multifamily Performance Program which emphasizes energy savings and efficiency.
