Inspired by the formality of early modern architecture, 14 house was conceptualized as a piece of modern sculpture set into its West Hill location.Slated to be a show piece of innovation in sustainability, this house incorporates a super-insulated ICF envelope, achieving R50 in the walls and ceiling. All steel framing in floors and interior walls, and a green roof to mitigate heat gain and storm-water runoff furthers the houses sustainable features. Finally, a whole house automation system to manage resource use and careful site placement taking advantage of passive cooling / heating strategies compliment the other sustainable stragies.
