This house was built in Hiji, Oita. The sunny house built on the slope facing south is good environment having the views of Gulf of Beppu. They hoped they built the house which took advantage of this environmental characteristic for husband, wife and future child. The site area is 307.70m2 and the south width is wide, so we proposed a very simple plan.An open veranda was built in the south area of the house with size of 16.38m ×1.82m.All main rooms faced south, and those were arranged to be tangent to the edge of an open veranda. The dirt floor corridor was arranged in the north side, and the additional room was put in four boxes.Loft was organized in the upper part of a kitchen and the bathroom, and arranged it to be able to easily access from storehouse the roof terrace. The comfortable rich space was brought by four closed boxes, a vertically-elongated boxes and a big window of the main volume. This modern house is built by "a traditional method of construction" that is the traditional method of construction of the Japanese wooden building. The simple organization that can harness the natural energy of the land creates comfortable space.
