Particular and unfeasible requests characterize the renovation of the duplex of a family in Rome; the name of the project, not one but two zeros signifies rebellious and obstinate rejection of any pre-established technique, style, opening the way of the experimentation.
The oriental disciplines are the topics of study of the customer involved in her own way of search.
The requests are substantially three:
1 - to avoid the presence of sharp corners;
2 - to avoid the choice of industrial products from the catalogues;
3 - to control the expense budget.
but the first two points cannot live with the third one; designing a space completely curved, organic, soft, easy to clean and to maintain, fully personalized and low cost appears immediately a utopia.
So we opt for a curvilinear design only of the internal divisions, and to obtain the effect of homogeneity, the walls and the ceiling are covered with just one plaster finish for external use, thus avoiding also the real pictorial cycle.
Resins design a bicoloured flooring, in which the white and the black embrace each other according to the typical geometry of the Tao symbol; the borderline between the two fields of flooring joins with its curves the volume of one of the two baths, that, almost as a tortoise, breaks down the wall of the same living-room.
An essential foldaway door, without handle but furnished with a simple black string that hooks to an iron nail, guarantees the grip and the closing from the inside.
Outside this protuberance an iron rod ladder leads to the covering of the same volume, from which you can enter a lumber-room or simply you can stop for a moment and read, study, reflect, on this anomalous point of view.
A black spiral staircase, takes you to the level below, where we have the bedroom area, designed with the same ingredients: three bedrooms are arranged in a curvilinear corridor, lived as a common square in which the daughter's swing or the son's punching ball are placed side by side, crossing different playing moments.
An exclusively fluorescent illumination obtained through linear ceiling lights disorderly scattered on the floor, characterizes the house; today fully lived and already worn-out and consumed, it is even more fascinating.
