+/- FOUNTAIN
A design for a public fountain on the square of an small colonial era town in Colombia. The ground plane of the cobblestone plaza is slightly distorted to create a raised mound(+) and a corresponding indentation(-). Periodically, water flows from the mound, collecting in the small indention, where it's gathered and slowly recirculated. The fountain does not flow constant, but rather, its rate is gradually adjusted to allow water to pool or recede in distinct cycles. The presence and absence of water becomes a subtle maker and physical manifestation of the passage of time. A link between the physical and the temporal is made explicit and relatable to those traversing the the public square thought the day.
