Founded by Kerem Özerler, Kutay Yorulmaz and Mert Can Uzyıldırım in 2016, Wangan is an İstanbul-based interdisciplinary design studio working across architecture & interiors, experience, product and brand design, research / insight, fnb consultancy and strategy development.
With the passion of being innovative, smart and brave, the studio creates versatile and timeless designs with an experience oriented holistic design approach that creates interaction between all components of a brand, company or space. The studio defines its goal as; seeking perfection with the aim of breaking down the existing systems.
Wangan, mostly develops projects for hospitality industry. Developing a new business model on the lack of design integrity between the components in the fnb and accommodation spaces and brands, Wangan has a wide range of services, from preparing the feasibility, choosing the chef, locating in the city, menu development, interior and brand design.
The founders of the studio describe Wangan and the business model they established with the following quotes: “Whether a restaurant, bar, club or hotel, the most important factor that leads to success for any brand that works in hospitality industry is that all of the experiences that touch the end user should be designed in a balanced way that works well with the business plan. Today, when we look at many places that closed shortly after opening, we see the common point of most is the absence of integrity in design elements.
The basic approach on Wangan’s business model is to see the end user of its client as the essential client and to produce solutions to their needs. In this sense, every minute she spends after the end user step into the space designed by the studio is part of its business.
The studio, that designs the loose furnitures of most of the spaces they have designed, also has its own product collections. After exhibiting their first product line at the London Design Fair held at the Old Truman Brewery as part of the London Design Week 2019, in the “Super Brands” zone, they met with intense interest from the local and global press. In addition to the Design Turkey, Archist and Edida – Young Designer of the Year awards they received in 2020, they were deemed worthy of the Interior Design Mag – Best of Year awards, one of the most prestigious awards of the industry in New York.
Studio that has completed many residential and workspace projects in addition to hospitality projects, have been working with global and well-established companies such as Pernod Ricard, Unilever, Doğuş Hospitality, Vakko, Kavaklıdere, Fabiana Filippi, Leica and Nestle since its establishment.
