VAGA is a word in portuguese that refers to emptiness, to an absence in which the indefinition of use and sense of freedom give way to a space of possibilities. A latent and expectant point open to the multiplicity of meanings. At the same time, it represents something in constant movement and mutation, in an eventful and intense way.
The assimilation of this concept motivated the creation of a space that would make it concrete.
VAGA operates in territories of practice and research exploring the boundaries between architecture, urbanism and design. Conceived by the Brazilian architects Fernando O’Leary, Pedro Domingues and Pedro Faria, the studio is an open space that works as a gathering point for people and ideas. It aims to establish a network of collaborative relations between people to promote significant changes by means of multidisciplinary projects through private clients, national and international competitions or independent initiatives. VAGA believes on a democratic and horizontal way of making decisions to enrich our processes of creation and investigation.
