Kim Nigro has been the principal of Studio Nigro
since founding the practice in 2006. She received her undergraduate degree in
Architecture from Kansas State University and later a Master of Architecture
degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. During university Kim spent
time studying architecture in Italy; in 2007 she had the honor of returning to
Italy as the recipient of the prestigious Burnham Prize Fellowship in
Architecture at the American Academy in Rome. Kim is a licensed architect in
the states of Illinois, Michigan, and Missouri.
Having practiced in Chicago for the past twelve years working for
renowned firms such as Tigerman McCurry Architects and Wilkinson Blender
Architecture, she has design and technical experience with a wide range of projects,
from vacation homes in Michigan to a high-rise hotel in the Loop. Studio Nigro’s latest project, a boutique
frozen custard and sweet shop in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood, opened in May
of 2011.
