The studio works on the themes of architecture and landscape, principally on a small scale, with particular care for issues of energy and environment, and how they intersect with everyday living.
Established in Milan in 1992 by Emanuele Almagioni (Milan 1965), Giacomo Borella (Milan 1964) and Francesca Riva (Milan 1961).
Most recent work includes: solar house in the Alps (Aosta Valley), school in the Dolomite mountains (Agordo, Belluno), renovation of a barn (Ispra, Lake Maggiore), small public park (Bertonico, Lodi), additional storey on social housing complex (Cinisello B., Milan).
Works currently under construction include: three wooden residential buildings (Laveno, Lake Maggiore), renovation of two rural houses (Gremiasco, Alessandria), and the never-ending construction of a nursery school in Rome, started in 2004 and still unfinished.
Whenever possible, the members of the studio concretely participate in some phases of the construction of projects, carrying out manual work directly onsite, sometimes realizing the entire work.
The studio has participated in international exhibitions and conferences (Biennale di Venezia, 2008, Bienal panamericana de Quito, 2012) and social workshops (Mammut, Scampia / Naples; Asinitas, Rome; Asnada, Milan).
