Solidspace is a boutique developer with a unique and trademarked design concept in all of our homes.
Solidspace doesn't put up with the poorly built noddy boxes that litter our landscape. We don't need to live in homes that have been ill-conceived and badly executed. We build, evolve and innovate. We believe in good design, high quality and the environment. We deliver light, volume and character. Our manifesto is development as art.
The Solidspace split-level is a revolutionary new approach to housing. Our design is a response to a simple question: How do 21st century families want to live? We are more connected than ever before; eating, living and learning are now sociable activities. Yet our homes don’t reflect this, so we have fused open plan and split level living by offsetting the floorplan by half a storey. It opens up the volume of the home to give light and character and a sense of space and connection that would otherwise not be possible. The ethos of our design is not about expensive specification; it is about real architecture; where the feelings of the inhabitants are all important, driven by new technology and a re-examination of the way we want to live.
We have won 11 awards to date and have been shortlisted for a further 4. Our most famous project, One Centaur Street in London, was designed with the renowned Anglo-Dutch architects dRMM in 2004. Without doubt it is one of the most critically acclaimed residential buildings of recent times and has been described by Jonathan Glancey of The Guardian as "a minor masterpiece".
