Smerin Architects follows Piers Smerin's thirteen years as a founder of Eldridge Smerin designing cutting edge contemporary houses in the UK and abroad and winning awards from the RIBA and Civic Trust amongst others including being shortlisted for British architecture's premier award, the Stirling Prize and winning the One-off House category of the 2009 Architect Of The Year Awards This is complemented by earlier experience in the offices of Simon Conder, Zaha Hadid, Norman Foster and John McAslan.
Recent houses include Red Bridge House, a newly built family house on three floors with an indoor swimming pool and generous covered terrace set in an area of ancient woodland on the edge of Ashdown Forest in Southern England, Number Ninety, a newly built family house arranged over five floors with a strongly contemporary appearance in the Holland Park area of Central London and Palus-Trio, a new house designed for a site on New York's Long Island that seeks to infuse the discrete elegance of the best mid-century modern houses with a dash of contemporary brio.
Piers Smerin's particular skill is fusing bold ideas with attention to the smallest detail to create houses that whilst being an obvious product of their time also express the spirit of their site and personality of their owners.
