Simone Micheli was born in Tuscany, in 1964, to Massimo, a painter, and Cristiana, an art teacher.A graduate of the Faculty of Architecture of Florence University, during his academic years he met important mentors such as Giovanni Klaus Koenig (his thesis advisor), Giovanni Michelucci and Bruno Zevi, with whom he worked at the outset of the unconventional career path that links his earliest training to his professional practice today.In 1990 he founded the architectural office that bears his name, and in 2003, the architecture and design firm, Simone Micheli Architectural Hero, based in Florence and Milan.From 2003 to 2009 he taught at the Florence Faculty of Architecture; he has also taught at Polidesign and at the Milan Polytechnic School of Design since 2003.His professional practice has taken him in multiple directions: from architecture to interior design, and from industrial design to visual design by way of communications.His creations, sustainable and always environmentally conscious, are characterized by strong identity and uniqueness.The numerous projects he has carried out for local government bodies and major private patrons active in residential and community building have made him one of the main players in the field of architectural design in Europe. Recent national and international awards include Best Interior Design and Best Apartment Italy (for the Golfo Gabella Lake Resort project), in the Homes Overseas Award 2007 competition, London, an international award reserved for the best residential property developments in the world; International Media Prize 2008, Shenzhen, China, in the category, Annual Public Spaces Grand Award; International Design Award 2008, Los Angeles, in the category, Interior Design (for the New Urban Face project for the Province and the Municipality of Milan); Interior Designer of the Year at the International Design Award 2008, Los Angeles; Best of Year 2010 in the category Beauty, Spa and Fitness, an award organized by Interior Design Magazine, New York; International Media Prize 2010 in the category Annual Space Club Award, organized by Modern Decoration Magazine in Shenzhen (for the Atomic Spa project for Boscolo Hotels); the TrE Number One Award 2011, Venice, for interior design; the Contemporary Spa Award 2011, in the category, Best Future Spa in Bologna (for the Marina Verde Wellness Resort project in Caorle (Venice). His works have been presented in the most important international exhibitions and he has lectured for cultural institutions and other organizations and foundations in cities around the world.Numerous monographs and articles in Italian and international magazines, as well as television interviews, have been dedicated to his work.
