About me:
As an artist and designer I engage in a wide range of fields and combine diverse disciplines. My work is layered, ranging from object making to the creation of spaces and environments. My practice transpires on the line between art and design.
After spending several years abroad (in New York, London, and Africa) I returned to Israel and launched a design studio in Tel Aviv, which has been in operation for 17 years since. The studio focuses on planning, design, and production: from the design of furniture and accessories to the total planning of private and public spaces.
About the studio:
Sarit Shani Hay is a design studio for playful living for toddlers, kids, teens and adults.
A visit to Shani Hay Studio reveals a world of color, craftsmanship and wit. With eclectic references to comic books, fairy tales, modernist designers and African art, Shani Hay’s rooms afford a rich space of imagination. Shani Hay’s accessories, furniture and rooms combine functionalism with humor, creating enchanting interiors. Working with a range of materials, textures and detailing, Shani Hay melds art and design for the intimate spaces of our daily-life, celebrating the joy of childhood for kids and adults alike. Shani Hay preserves the popular traditions of domestic production with new materials, affording a unique design approach.
Having received a BA in arts and a post-graduate diploma from London’s Chelsea College of Art and Design, Sarit Shani Hay launched her studio in 1995, in Tel-Aviv.
Since then she has established a name for herself as a leading designer in her field.
The studio offers total design services including interior design, to custom furniture and accessories.
In recent years, Shani Hay has expanded her endeavors into the public sphere, with projects such as kindergarten, design of rest corners in hospitals and libraries for young children. Her designs for kids spaces have been a first harbinger and a revolutionary precedent in the design of public spaces for children.
