In our exploration of design, we are inspired by the world, the big events and the fleeting moments. We strive to integrate meaning into our built environment by studying the patterns framed by mankind; the contextual history, ceremony, economy, and culture. We have a broad definition of our work. We see the built environment as simultaneously expansive and constrained, natural and man-made. A garden can be located at home, in a park or on a tabletop. A building can be in a pattern, a board game or in a city. Through research and observation we hope to create experientially vibrant spaces carrying unique symbolic meaning and memorable places that sustain local ecological and cultural systems. In a world of homogenization and globalization, our work offers a way to exaggerate and celebrate the wonderful differences in each place.
