Reinach | Mendonça Arquitetos Associados
Created in 1987 by architects Henrique Reinach and Maurício Mendonça, Reinach|Mendonça Arquitetos Associados is, today, a company that operates in the fields of Architectural project, urbanism, design and technical management. In 1993 they were given the first prize on the category young architects by IAB/SP (Institute of Brazilian Architects – São Paulo) and on the same year, they were an honorable mention on the second International Architecture Biennial in São Paulo and International Biennial in Quito.
In 1996, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2008 they also received several prizes and honorable mentions by AsBEA (Brazilian Association of Architectural Offices) and IAB-SP for their built projects. In 1999 the team participated on the exposition “Brazil Still Builds”, from the Architectural Association, London.
In 2005 and 2009 they gave a lecture at Buenos Aires Biennial, and in the following year they received the 1º prize of the Architecture Biennial of Brasília.
Projects from the office have been published in several national magazines and even international publications, like Abitare-Italy, Escala-Colombia, Architectural Digest-Italy and Nox-Spain, have highlighted these same projects outside Brazil. Buildings were also the cover of the books “Private Rio, from Rizzoli Publisher-NY, and “Casas de vidro” from Monsa Publisher-Spain.
A prizewinning project was published, in 1999, on the AWA – Award Winning Architectural International Yearbook. In 2008 three projects from the office were highlighted among the 1000 most significant projects of the Americas, on the book “1000x Architecture of the Americas”, from Braun Publisher-Germany.
Since 2001 the team has its own office, on an award winning building (by IAB/SP in 2002), and was chosen in 2003 the “office of the year - national highlight” by AsBEA’s annual award. In 2012 they were given first prize on the category Office Architecture and Multiple Residence Architecture by the International Property Award in London.
