PICCO architetti combines the practice and research in urban and architectural design, they design places to live, employment, education and leisure through innovative complex plans and programmes.
It founded in the 90’s,since the early 2000s the firm has consolidated its professional engagement on issues of urban landscape, the redevelopment of areas and renovation of abandoned buildings by employing specialistic professional media and specific contributions for the environment, facilities, equipment and mobility with a methodology attentive to the quality of architecture and the complexity of the processes involved in achieving it.
The firm specializes in residential projects, focusing in particular on social and public housing, many of which have already been built, paying attention to the delicate balance between quality, comfort and affordability.
Always pledged to renew and diversify the themes of the projects it’s called to work on, the firm has also designed buildings for the elderly, schools ,hotels, sports facilities, offices and retail buildings
PICCO architetti has took part in national and international competitions: it was a fi nalist in the international competition for the new “Library and Cultural Center”( 2001)and “The Metamorphosis” in Turin.
It was also finalist in the competition of the redevelopment of the “Historic Centre of Acqui Terme (AL)”, and the Sports Palace in Sora (FR) and it has been the winner, together with G.Gamberini, of the the competition for a Social Housing complex in Ravenna, .now under construction; with + Studio, a partner in several projects it has won the restricted competition for the new headquarters of a Bank in Turin and the one for the new headquarters of AMIAT in Turin, currently under construction; and finalist in TNE Mirafiori’s complex competition.
Among the latest urban scale projects we find : the masterplan of the area Mandelli in Collegno ,the one for the area of Romania Cebrosa and the ex-Moi in Turin;the latest completed interventions are two housing complex in Turin, Bertolla and Palazzo Tazzoli, Social Housing complex area EX-Siva (Settimo Torinese)and the one in area Maroncelli in Grugliasco (TO), a facility for the elderly in Rivoli (TO) and in Lanzo T.se the recovery of the complex of the College of St Philip Neri is coming soon.
PICCO architetti together with CZA has designed the IAAD school and the new Lavazza business centre, a new event space, public and private outside areas currently under construction.
Many projects have been published in Italian and international magazines and books. In the last few years the fi rm has begun to work abroad, particularly in East Europe and in the Far East
PICCO architetti was founded by consolidating and renewing a professional, cultural and social commitment started by Giovanni Picco (1932-2014) at the end of the 50’s.
