PAB Architects is founded by Pınar Gökbayrak (M.Arch. ITU), Ali Eray (M.Arch. ITU, TU Delft) and Burçin Yıldırım (M.Arch. ITU) in Istanbul in 2007. With the partners’ varying backgrounds, PAB has worked in a number of fields like architectural design projects, construction site practices, various research projects and architectural publications; and in different scales, from building to urban design.
PAB has been awarded many times nationally and internationally with its works that ensure a balance between functionality and aesthetics, regarding design as an added-value to the project, and being sensitive to the context and environment. Collaborating with different disciplines and following global innovations, PAB Architects keeps on designing with local input and global perspectives.
PAB has won various prizes in national architectural competitions. Ayhan Sahenk Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Namik Kemal University Faculty of Medicine has been granted with two out of three awards in Most Successful Real Estate Investments of Turkey -Education Category in 2012 and selected for ARKIV Annual Anthology. Ayhan Sahenk Faculty of Agricultural Sciences was also the finalist in XIV. National Architecture Awards of Turkey. Its works included numerously in national and international publications, PAB Architects participated to 1st Istanbul Design Biennale and 1st Vitra Contemporary Architecture Series Exhibition as well.
The office founders were included in “Best Emerging Architects of the World” in 13th Venice Architecture Biennale. The office was granted with Special Encouragement Prize in Mehmet Kemal Dedeman Tourism Awards and has been selected as a finalist in Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Enterprise Forum in 2011. PAB was also the publisher of Betonart architecture magazine in 2008-2012. The office founders, participating in various professional events nationally and internationally, also led architectural studios in various universities. PAB Architects is the recipient of Young Architect Under 40 Award in 2015.
