NOJI Architects are a practice based in Sligo Town working on individual and collaborative projects throughout Ireland. NOJI architects have been in existence for 4 years, now with two staff and the principle architect being John Monahan. The practice has been primarily involved with residential work ranging from renovation extensions of period properties to one off houses and the possibility of community level buildings in the near future. In parallel to the mainly residential work there is an emphasis on the smaller scale design projects allowing an artistic expression and shorter build fruition periods.
NOJI architects aim to have craft and innovative design solutions at the core of their work. The economic use of structure and materials while maximising the potential of any given space leads to a cost effective and responsive design solution. We allow the orientation and site specific parameters to guide the form and plan with each response different to the next. The site specific response is partially guided by the traditions of the vernacular, being influenced by it rather than bound by it. NOJI architects are keen to find a new vernacular that is site specific and of its time embodying the energy efficient principles that are now becoming commonplace in Ireland.
