Established on July 1, 2003, Neumann Mendro Andrulaitis Architects is located twelve miles south of Santa Barbara in the seaside community of Carpinteria, California. The firm's senior partner, Andy Neumann, founded his former company, Andy Neumann Architect, in 1993 at the firm's current location. For the prior seventeen years, he was a founder and partner of Seaside Union Architects of Santa Barbara where Dave Mendro and Mary Andrulaitis first worked with him. Neumann Mendro Andrulaitis Architects defines itself as a design firm emphasizing quality design irrespective of the scale or scope of the project. We offer comprehensive services from design conception through construction including planning, programming, design, regulatory agency approval and construction administration services.
The core design staff has worked together for many years and has a broad work experience. We have successfully completed a wide range of building types including residential, commercial and civic projects. Our work ranges from small-scale renovations to multi-million dollar projects. Maintaining a balance between type and scope of our work allows us the ability to solve larger complex planning problems while retaining a humanistic philosophy and sense of scale. Our client base ranges from individual homeowners to internationally based businesses. Completed projects are located not only throughout California, but also in Hawaii, Washington, Connecticut and Italy.
The firm of Neumann Mendro Andrulaitis Architects was established with the goal of providing comprehensive architectural design services committed to the needs of the client. The firm's design philosophy places people, the users of facilities, as the most important element in the design process. This humanistic approach is blended with the technical expertise necessary to realize a project from conception through completion. A flexible problem-solving approach to design allows services to be tailored to the specific needs of the individual client and to provide unique and innovative solutions appropriate for their use. The success of the firm is built upon providing excellent client service - it is the cornerstone of the office and integral to everything we do.
Each project is approached with a passion for the art of design and a commitment to a quality built environment. We strive to maintain a broad perspective in our architecture and to avoid stylistic preconceptions. Designs evolve through careful study of each specific problem. Using this approach, the appropriate solution tends to present itself. The goal of this practice is to create architecture that is an imaginative, appropriate synthesis of the client's program and budget, the building function and use, and respect for the context and environment. The qualities we seek in our design work are diversity, integrity, timelessness, environmental sensitivity and a sense of place.
The staff at Neumann Mendro Andrulaitis Architects consists of long term Santa Barbara and Ventura County residents cognizant of the regional context and the specific concerns of the local community. We view our work as a contribution to our community. With nearly thirty years of practice, Neumann Mendro Andrulaitis Architects has a well-established reputation of success in working with the South Coast community, the local regulatory agencies, design consultants and builders.
