Metrotopia Inc. is a US-based metaverse startup founded by Zaha Hadid Architects (London) and ArchAgenda (Chicago) that serves as a global hub for the entire design ecosystem, across architecture, urban design, industrial design, fashion, mobility, new media and speculative practices.
Built on Unreal Engine 5 and accessible via browser-based Pixel Streaming, this high-fidelity cyber-urban platform showcases over 100 photorealistic projects from world-renowned studios including Zaha Hadid Architects, OMA, Coop Himmelb(l)au, UNStudio, Sou Fujimoto, alongside industrial designer Ross Lovegrove and fashion designer Yimeng Yu.
Metrotopia’s ambition extends beyond exhibition—it is a multi-authored virtual city where designers, cultural organizations, m enterprises, schools, galleries, museums, biennales, awards, conferences, publishers, and media outlets co-locate to generate synergies akin to vibrant urban districts.
Launching in 2023 with the “Knowledge Transfer” exhibition in the 18th Venice Architecture Biennale and the Chicago Architecture Biennial, Metrotopia is as a multi-authored creator city where designers, institutions, and media co-locate to foster interdisciplinary exchange, networking, and collaboration in a spatial web environment designed for the future of design culture.
