Massimo Adario was born in Rome, Italy, in 1970, into an entrepreneurial family running a printing press business.
He decided to study architecture there, graduating in 1998 from the "Università di Roma - La Sapienza” with the highest honours.
A good part of his academic career and formation took place in Spain, where he studied, first, at the Universidad de Valladolid E.T.S.A.V., “Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Valladolid”, in 1992-93 with a full scholarship granted by the European Community Erasmus program.
He then returned to Spain in 1996-97 to continue his studies as a "Free-mover" at the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, E.T.S.A.M., “Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid”.
In 1999, he obtains his license as a registered architect, entering the professional order.
Given his keen interest in history, and architectural history in particular, during the years 1995 to 1997, he collaborates closely with Professor Simonetta Curcio on the History of Architecture Program at the Università degli Studi di Roma “La Sapienza”.
His first working experiences where primarily developed abroad, outside of Italy.
During his time in Spain, he works in the architectural firm of F.co Javier Bellosillo Amunategui, his Design professor at the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid in 1996-1997.
After a brief sojourn in Italy in 1998-99, when he worked in the studio of Aldo Aymonino in Rome where he collaborates on the international competition to design the MAXXI Centre for Contemporary Arts, in Rome, as part of the architectural group Ricci, Andriani, Aymonino, Ciorra, Spaini, he decides to move to the Netherlands, first in Amsterdam, then Maastricht.
In 1999, while in Amsterdam, he collaborates with two different architecture firms, Ton Venhoeven CS and Kruunenberg & Van Der Erve Architecten.
He then moves to Maastricht, where he remains for two years, working for Wiel Arets & Associates.
He participates in numerous competitions and follows closely a series of projects:
* Leidsche Rijn Campus, a high school complex with sporting facilities in Utrecht, Netherlandsi, 2000, by arch. Wiel Arets; commissioned by Gemeente di Utrecht.
* Multifunction centre Glas Paleis, Heerlen, Netherlands; by arch. Wiel Arets, arch. Jo Coenen; commissioned by Gemeente di Heerlen, 2000.
* Urban planning project for the city of Hufdoorp; by arch. Wiel Arets; commissioned by Gemente di Hufdoorp, 1999.
In 2001, he returns to Italy where, after a while, he co-founds with Michele Arcarese and Davide Valoppi the 2AV Studio, an architectural firm specialised in private interiors, retail and large-scale hotels and reception facilities, such as:
* Grand Hotel via Veneto, via Veneto, in Rome, 2003-2007;
* Expansiion of Infant and Elementary Schoold "Scuola Materna Aldo Moro", in Nepi, 2007;
* House in the country, in Canino, 2006;
* House in the tree, in San Casciano ai Bagni; 2006;
* Terrazza Caffarelli, Caffetteria dei Musei Capitolini, in Rome, 2006;
* House in Piazza di Spagna, in Rome, 2005.
From 2007 onwards, he has continued his work and research in the world of interiors, housing, industrial architecture and urban planning with his own private studio.
