Born in Cesena, Italy in1968, and graduated at Florence, Lapo Lani currently resides and works in Milan.
His professional engagements are characterized by an experimental edge and focus primarily on city planning, architecture and design.
Since 1996, Lani has participated in architectural and design competitions, on both a national and an international level, from which he has gained recognition and special honors.
In 1998, he began to exhibit in numerous architecture and design shows, in Italy and abroad as well.
In 2000 he began to collaborate with the contemporary art gallery Marsilio Margiacchi, at which he continues to exhibit in personal and collective shows.
In 2003, he became the design/project consultant for the international company BTicino (Milan), for which he then went on to design interiors of showrooms, concept stores, and offices, both in Italy and abroad.
In 2005, he began to design home automation systems for living spaces, offices, showrooms and concept spaces. These plans are often integrated with solutions by way of furniture or temporary installations. In the same year he began to collaborate as consulting architect with international company - Assa Abloy, Yale, Litto, Eff Eff, Tonic Line, Stremler, Collstrop, BTicino, Vantage, etc.
In 2009, he began the collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano (INDACO Department) about the new housing and therapeutic models for Alzheimer’s patients.
In 2010, with the Professor Alessandro Biamonti and the Doctor Ivo Cilesi, he founded the research group “Therapeutic Habitat”, with which experiments, designs and manufactures systems and Alzheimer's therapeutic devices. In this context, in the same year, "Therapeutic Train" has been designed and manufactured.
Since 1996, Lani has maintained a constant involvement with pedagogic engagements at the University of Architecture in Florence and at the Politecnico di Milano.
