Designing a building, be it civic or private, is a very dynamic process of discovery, a lively dialogue between the architect and the client. Many elements must be taken into consideration; the function of the building, the needs and desires of those that will use it, and perhaps most importantly the aspects of the site that will have an undeniable influence on the building, it's inhabitants and visitors.Every nuance of the site will be considered; the topography, the sunlight as it changes throughout the day, the views, vegetation, bodies of water, prevailing winds and the neighboring buildings or lands; a harsh urban setting or a peaceful meadow? All these aspects will play into the design of the spaces in the building and the area immediately surrounding it. The building responds respectfully to the natural environment from which it is constructed, while meeting the criteria of the program for which it was conceived. We capture the essence of the land and the spirit of the people, bringing them together in a physical manifestation. Spaces, both natural and manmade, are perceived by all of one's senses. These perceptions will notice the flow from one element to the next without hesitation, flowing from exterior to interior to exterior; seeing how the light dances through the building, the awareness of openness or constraint, of playfulness or seriousness, the feeling of the textures and materials to the skin. Thus the sum becomes more than just the addition of all the parts.Architecture can be many things: bold, strong, poetic, oppressive, empowering, refreshing or intriguing, affecting people by the big strokes and the smallest details. Since all sites and all people and their programs are unique, our passion for intelligent design will create very different buildings for each of our clients.
