After 6 years working with a well know Architectural firm, I decided to put up my own company J.O.Garcia Design & Construction in the year 2009. The initial plan was to work on Design & Build projects. However, after a few years of trying this route, I realized that the design and construction mode of business does not match my work values and principles. Further, it is very important that the business model should match how I work, how I execute the projects as they are envisioned and how I collaborate with clients and colleagues. So, it was really wise to focus on Design and Consultancy Services and change the name of the firm to J.O.Garcia Design & Consultation.
The vision is to promote Filipino Architecture but with flexibility to integrate components that will make the design transcend through many generations to come. We do this by incorporating modern innovation, integrating the outdoors to indoors to come up an openness and harmony in the design and upgrading the experience of our clients –not only when the project is completed by also during the time that the project is being conceptualized and implemented.
Before coming up with my vision for the project, I really spend time and make sure that I understand and know the requirements and preference of the client. From the various information gathered from the client, the vision and inspiration will start to brew into a meaningful design concept. Once the client approves the design concept, I ensure that what the client and I worked on is executed well from design to execution.
Designing a project is always a collaboration between the Architect/Designer and the client. Extract what is they have in mind, their wants and needs and their lifestyle and translate it to a meaningful design.
