GUBO Architects is a urban research and architecture design studio, founded by Jihak Hong and Yoonhee Cho in 2015. We respect the terms such as ecology, solidarity, slowness, and humanity, pursuing moderate and rational works in the age of excessive technology.
Mr. GUBO, a fictional character in a modern Korean novel, experiences a city through lenses of ordinary people’s perspective while hanging around. A special moment in a city is provided not by a select few of the society, rather by common people who build their memory and affection for their place and time. We should be a realistic thinker, not fascinated by abstraction.
In this sense, we are interested in the architectural form of physical structures which have the power to connect every parts of a city and discover possibility of invisible space.
We are pursuing architecture which reveals the values of everyday life. We are confident that it would be came in front of us when all the participants of a work - designers, builders, engineers, owners, etc. - share their happiness through the project.
